SUSY In The Sky: Observing Ultrahigh Energy Cosmic Neutralinos

چکیده
In models where the ultra-high energy cosmic ray problem is solved by top-down scenarios, a significant flux of ultra-high energy neutralinos is predicted. We calculate the number of events expected from such particles in future experiments such as EUSO or OWL. We show that by using the Earth as a filter, showers generated by neutralinos can be separated from neutrino generated showers. We find that for many models, observable

Anisotropies in Ultrahigh Energy Cosmic Rays *
The present status of anisotropy studies for the highest energy cosmic rays is presented including the first full sky survey. Directions and prospects for the future are also discussed in light of new statistical methods and the last quantities of data expected in the near future from the Pierre Auger Observatory.
متن کاملTowards Determination of the Initial Flavor Composition of Ultrahigh-energy Neutrino Fluxes with Neutrino Telescopes
We propose a simple but useful parametrization of the flavor composition of ultrahigh-energy neutrino fluxes produced from distant astrophysical sources: φe : φμ : φτ = sin 2 ξ cos2 ζ : cos2 ξ cos2 ζ : sin ζ. We show that it is possible to determine or constrain ξ and ζ by observing two independent neutrino flux ratios at the second-generation neutrino telescopes, provided three neutrino mixing...
متن کاملUltrahigh Energy Cosmic Rays from Gamma Ray Bursts: Implications of the Recent Observational Results by Milagro
It has been speculated earlier that Gamma Ray Bursts are sources of ultrahigh energy cosmic rays. Recently, the search for high energy photons from Gamma Ray Bursts by Milagro group has put limits on the isotropic luminosity of these transient sources in very high energy photons. The implications of the results obtained by Milagro to our understanding of the ultrahigh energy cosmic ray spectrum...
متن کاملSearch for Large-Scale Anisotropy of Ultrahigh Energy Cosmic Rays with HiRes Stereo Data
We have searched for correlations between the pointing directions of ultrahigh energy cosmic rays in the data of the High Resolution Fly’s Eye (HiRes) collaboration, and local large scale structure. The HiRes stereo data set (the same used to search for AGN correlations [1]) was used in the search, and the 2 Micron All-Sky Redshift Survey (2MRS) was used to determine the density of galaxies in ...

We estimate the detection rate of ultrahigh-energy cosmic rays on ground-based arrays by assuming that the cosmic-ray sources are active galactic nuclei. We analyze the cases of detection of clusters, several particles that arrived, within the error limits, from the same area of the sky. The adopted model is shown to explain the detection rate of clusters on the AGASA array.
